Funerals at St Giles’ Church

The death of a loved one can be a distressing time for both families and individuals. Many people choosing to hold a funeral service at the church find it a great comfort where they can enter the next phase of bereavement.

The message at all Church of England funerals, wherever they happen, is one of hope. Although there is sadness because someone you know and love has died, in every Church of England funeral there will also be a message of hope in life after death.

From the moment you are in touch with us, throughout the funeral service, and for as long as you need us afterwards, we’re here for you.

‘I am the resurrection and the life,’ says the Lord. ‘Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.’

John 11.25, 26

Arranging A Funeral

If the deceased formerly lived in the parish and you would like to arrange a funeral at St Giles’ Church, please speak with your chosen undertaker who will contact us. Enquiries to St Giles for a suitable date and time for a funeral service are normally made through the Funeral Director. Once the date and time have been agreed, the Funeral Director will ask the priest to make contact with the family of the deceased.

You can find further information about organising a funeral on the Church of England website.
