Tiddlywinks Pre School Playgroup
Tiddlywinks is a Christian pre school group, run by volunteers from our congregation, offering an opportunity for children and their parents/grandparents or carers to feel welcome and comfortable in St Giles church.
We have been meeting successfully for 20 years and always mark special occasions such as Easter, Christmas and Royal celebrations with lots of fun and a party .
We meet each week, in church on Thursday mornings during term time, 10:30 till 11:45am. We cater for children from the very young up to four years of age. All our helpers are DBS checked and attend the required training.
A typical session starts with a welcoming song which names all the children ( which they really love) followed by a short service, a suitable bible story singing and playing children’s musical instruments to everyone’s delight. This session is followed by some sort of craft activities which the children can take away with them. Then it’s time for refreshments for everyone and finally the children get to play with toys and socialise with their friends.
When the weather permits, we sometimes have our meeting in Pontefract Castle or the Valley Gardens which gives the children some variety and fresh air which makes for a pleasant morning.
If anyone wants to see what we do on Thursdays 10.30 to 11.45 in term time, you are most welcome to join us as long as you can rattle a tambourine or bang a drum (doesn’t have to be in tune just loud).
